Hello, I am having a problem on Dolphin 5.0 and black screens. After the first forsaken fortress I get a black screen when tossed into the ocean, right after the boat shows up. After looking around, I tried: Graphics: Direct 11 V-sync Configuration: General: enable dual core enable idle skipping Speed Limit: unlimited JIT Recompiler recommended Audio: DSP LLE recompiler No Audio and OpenAL To no avail. I have 16 GB ram, i7 6820HK 2.7 HHz, windows 10 A tried looking all over the internet, but I could not find an solution to this issue. Everything above is the 'solutions' I have found elsewhere. When it freezes, the in game FPS stays at what it is, but the FPS in the bar on top drops to zero. I have not tried an earlier version of Dolphin, would I lose my data if I tried another one?

I should not disable the speed limit if I were you. Disable V-Sync. Set Speed Limit to 100%, use DSP HLE emulation, use XAudio2 or OpenAL as the audio backend. You could always try a different graphics backend (you could try D3D12 is your GPU supports it). Ohh, and use the latest development version of Dolphin. Your settings (which include your save files too) will remain if you update Dolphin, so don't worry. Otherwise if you prefer not use the development builds, just use the Stable 5.0 version.

Unless you are missing to post some settings (do you have cheats enabled?), it should work all fine with Dolphin 5.0 and newer. You might also want to check if your game disc dump copy has the correct MD5 checksum, if not you might want to redump your game disc copy.

I was able to find what mine was but the string of characters had no meaning to me I do not have cheats enabled, and I have tried D12 and all the other settings you suggested. Hoping that the checksum leads to a solution. It depends on which version of Wind Waker you use.

PAL, NTSC-U, NTSC-J. I believe there is also there Player's Choice discs. And there was this two-disc special with the second disc containing Ocarina of Time - Master Quest (I don't really know if these discs are any different). Each different release has an unique md5 checksum. Anyway, I believe the standard NTSC-U disc uses the md5 checksum: d8e4d45af2032a081a0f4b (I don't know, I usually trim/compress my discs with the GameCube ISO Tool, so the md5 checksum will be different). You should check a md5 database yourself and check if the md5 checksum fits your own game disc dump. If the md5 checksum is different, then well.

V-Sync is pretty broken, Xenoblade Chronicles tends to uncap the FPS while loading a save file, enabling V-Sync causes the cap to stay at 60 (if that is your monitor's frequency) and increasing the loading times enormously.

Each backend should work, some might work better than others. OpenGL is pretty stable, Vulkan tends to be pretty stable too. D3D12 is not maintained for quite some while, but still works great. Super Mario Sunshine for examples works horrible with D3D12 but perfectly with OpenGL.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is just a reverted case there D3D12 is king. It can never harm to keep your Dolphin version up to date. Keep in mind that somtimes a regression or two might slip into the latest development builds, so either go back a few versions, wait for a fix or go back to Stable 5.0. Worst case scenario? Completely reset your Dolphin configurations. Try to retrieve your game save files through and copy them back into a fresh Dolphin settings folder.

Using the GCI Map options for GameCube save files is definitly the easiest way to go. Dolphin offers support to export all Wii save files for backup and to import them later back.

The checksum was the same as the one you posted. Not sure why or how, but compressing the game seemed to have worked edit: although Im having horrid frame rate issues on the compressed file. When I try to open the save that got passed the cut scene it wont load, but it will allow me to make a new save? No matter what settings I used, the compressed file staggered to 21-24 constantly.
